Fans of VDPAC’s annual celebration of International Women’s Day, I Am Woman, Hear Me Laff! will recognize this year’s featured headliner, Julie Kim as the host and emcee in 2024 for the headlining Canadian comedic icon, Elvira Kurt.

Julie Kim is one of Canada’s premiere stand-up comedians. Julie toured across Canada last Fall, performing with Rick Mercer on the Stand-Up for Canada Tour. She was also a gala performer at the 2022 Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and headlined four sold-out solo shows at Just for Laughs Toronto in 2023.

Over the past decade, Julie has performed at all the major Canadian comedy festivals and has toured Australia and the United Kingdom. Julie has also been regularly featured on CBC Radio’s The Debaters with Steve Patterson.

Special Guest: Remember “Kevin”? Then you’ll remember Yumi Nagashima! In less than 3 years, this Vancouver based, Japanese-Canadian comic and actress has made a huge splash on the North American comedy scene with her sassy stage presence, unique world view and deceptively demure delivery. A mainstay in the Vancouver comedy world, she is a listener favourite on CBC Radio’s The Debaters; on TV from the Winnipeg Comedy Festival; and featured as part of Just For Laughs Northwest.
